For over twenty years in the classroom, I have been observing children increasingly fidget and struggle to focus. I decided I needed to make changes to meet the needs of children today, so when you enter room A005 you may see students in yoga poses, practicing breathing, taking brain breaks, sitting on wiggle seats or stability balls or perhaps rolling play-doh or their study buddy between their palms. These are focus and fidget tools and strategies I have welcomed into my classroom and I find them both soothing and beneficial for the students who choose to use them.
