I think that the boy Chrisrtian, though only six yearsb old, is very stuborn for hiding from hir parents just because there are house rules.
I agree Rawi. He seems very old for his years. I am curious to learn about Christian and Ed's adventures together.
The author has me asking so many questions about Christian and Marigold. I can understand Christian's curiosity of others since he is so isolated living with a troll, but observing the royal family through a telescope for so many years is a little creepy.
...cont. Now that they are willingly corresponding it seems a bit romantic. Do you think he will end up courting her? Or do you think they will sneak to be together?
They will definitely seek together. It's what happens in all books! Except for the Divergent series:).
A little? A lot creepy! He,s been watching Marigold for about 12 years!
You know what? This book is I think the medieval times so maby they won't be together. What do you think?
I have been thinking more about Christian's origins. All those "rules" that triggered him in running away reminded me of Marigold disliking all the rules she has. Perhaps he is royalty and they CAN end up together.
I am assuming he will become an employee of the castle, perhaps a servant to Marigold?
I wasn't too sure about this book at the beginning. Part 1 did not hook me, but now I am eager and wanting these two characters to meet so we can see what will happen.
I think in the book trailer it said Christian becomes a janitor in princess Marigold's castle.
First, you need to warn me with "spoiler alert" if you are going to tell me what happens (he becomes a janitor?). And secondly, you never told me there was a trailer. Can you please attach the link in the comments, so I can watch? Thanks.
Well I guess Christian doesn't become a janitor but servants and janitors are almost the same thing.
On page 82 I love how the author described Christian's mixed emotions about leaving Ed and going to the castle; "With each step his left foot took, he felt like a certifiable idiot to give up such a fine life with Ed. And with each right foot took, he felt exhilarated at the prospect what surprises may lie ahead."
I felt sad for the dogs as they were barking and trying to board the ferry with Christian. :( That must have made it really hard to leave. Especially because he loves and respects those dogs so much. To hear them emote must have been heartbreaking.
page 94 - "Being waited on hand and foot was not good for one's personal development." I couldn't agree with Christian more. As a parent and teacher I try to instill the sense of responsibility so my children and students can be independent in their learning and life.
Ed is alone. I feel sad for him. I hope they meet again.
In my defense I don't remember the trailer that well. If you go on youtube and type "Once apon a Marigold" the first video is the one I saw ( it has a picture of a troll)
I'm not very sure how to link the video for the book trailer so that's why in my other comment I gave instructions.
I can't believe Christian pushed the dogs so they couldn't get on the boat. He's so mean!
Have you ever wondered what Ed and Christian looks like?
Do you think the dogs love Christian more than Ed?
What do you think Christian was thinking when Princess Marigold touched him? I think she found out he was the one who was sending the p-mails, because he was a commoner she ran away from him ;or she found out that Christian loves her.
He had to be thinking about he can't believe he is seeing her in person. I thought she was going to realize it was "C". I wonder how she will find out it's him.
It's funny, I do not have a clear picture in my head of what the characters look like, so that makes me think I may not want to watch the book trailer because it will put an image in my head.
When the princess responded to Christian's inquiry about an adopted child being able to inherit the throne..."It would be my child, the child of my heart, and if I am queen, it would be my successor." As an adoptive parent I love this question and response. I wonder if the author, Jean Ferris, has experience with adoption to have that outlook.
I am disappointed that Meg lied about kissing Christian HER. I don't have a good feeling about how Rollo is going to handle this.
Meg is so weird. I mean you can't kiss a guy and be going out with another boy.
The book traier put an image into my head and I say the queen looks REALLY creepy.
This is spider web of troubles I can't wait to see how it untangles.
Just wondering have you watched the trailer yet?
Well I'm just guessing that it will all work out and Marigold will marry Christian and the queen will have no more power. But I'm just guessing. I promise you I did NOT read ahead.
What do you think will happen in the end?
I have decided against watching the trailer.until the end, so there are no spoilers.
If it's a typical story they will end up together. As much as I like happy endings I am kind of hoping for an unexpected ending.
I'm sorry for my comment doubling, something is wrong with my computer.
O.M.G we're so close to finishing the book! I can't wait to see how it will all turn out!
What do you think about what is happening?
I would definitely want to be a part of a kingdom ruled by Marigold. Houses, food and reading for all citizens! A place where people are safe is such an important basic life need. Will she be a queen? Probably , in my opinion.
Like I said before, the trailer kind of ruins the book so I kind of knew the queen was going to try and kill Marigold. But it didn't say how it was going to end (luckily).
How will Christian be saved from the dungeon? Her mother will not understand or care to help. Her father is weak and afraid of the queen. I think it may be Ed. Maybe he was looking through the telescope at the time He could bring the dogs to sniff out and find him. I have to yo read.
Can you imagine getting drugged by a family member to keep your thoughts and ideas at bay? The Queen is evil. I am so glad that the King started giving his medicine yo the plant. I wonder what triggered the Kings thought yo stop taking the medicine. I can't quite figure out his knowledge of the queen's nasty plans.
I am glad that the sisters have tuned into their mother's mischeifness. Do you ever notice the changes in people's facial expressions, body language, tone of voice and even the language they use when they are being dishonest.
I'm not sure if they will get married. It's too predictable. Don't forget to think back to first chapter when they shared Christians need to run away. Could he have been running away from the King and queen?
I think the sisters will get scared and run off to their kingdoms. Some sisters would run away but this is a story so they have to save the day.
Sometimes people show signs when their lying. Almost everybody does this one: When speaking they look above the other persons eyes. But since I know that's a sign of lying I don't do that. Also some people give worried expressions but I just usually keep my face blank.
Uh oh. I have seen those faces from your before Rawi. Does that mean I have to worry about you lying?
No! I would never lie to you (not). I'm absolutely innocent. Do you think a girl like me would ever tell a lie. Plus anyway most of the time my face is blank. I personally think face expressions is a waist of the face mussels. But I know Christian would lie to you (if he were real).
Ugh! How could they be so careless? And how will they escape from the king's room? Christian will save the day, I'm sure of it. The pigeons. Maybe the pigeons will return and messages will be able yo be sent for help. I am curious to find out. Chapter 29 tomorrow (Wednesday)
We have a couple of engineers in Christian and Ed. I can't believe they busted their way out of the dungeon. Don't worry Marigold, Christian will come to your rescue.
It's too bad that Christian didn't try to escape with a catapult. Anyway have you ever thought Christian will not save the day? I mean maybe the sisters save the day or the king. But most likely all of them will contribute to the saving of Marigold.
Okay, so Christian was running away from a king and queen. It just wasn't Olympia and Swithbert. Now, I agree they will marry and live happily ever after. Olympia may attempt to prevent Christian from surviving the arrow in his chest and killing him, but she will not succeed. I really enjoyed this book at the beginning, but it has become too predictable. I kind of hope my predictions are incorrect.
Sadly I think your prediction are correct, I mean isn't it obviouse that Marigold will be saved and will marry Christian and live happily ever after, running to the sunset together forever?
Though it's summer I will still say this, We were totally right! Christian and Marigold did live happily ever after running to the sunset forever.
