Mystery Fun
Once we guessed each others state, we used our math knowledge and vocabulary to figure out a Mystery Number. It was HARD! Harder than we imagined. We did a great job narrowing down by asking; the number's place, value, the digits, if it was higher than or lower than specific numbers, if it was even/odd. Eventually we correctly identified their number as 876. The fourth graders did a terrific job, and figured out our number, 519 before us.
Both activities are great learning opportunities. Academically they are learning geogrpahy and math skills, but just as importantly they are connecting with peers around the globe, and learning and practicing speaking up, asking questions, and listening.
